Tottenham are reportedly leading the race ahead of their Premier League rivals to sign Feyenoord forward Santiago Gimenez. The Eredivisie side want no less than £60million for the Mexico international but won’t be considering offers until next summer.

Spurs still haven’t signed a new striker following Harry Kane’s departure in August. The north Londoners are yet to touch the £82m they received from Bayern Munich for the Englishman but are looking at potential options heading into the next two transfer windows.

Kane’s move came late in the summer leaving Spurs with little time to find a like-for-like replacement. Ange Postecoglou instead chose to convert Son Heung-min into a No 9 which has proved to be a fruitful decision.

The South Korean goal-machine has scored eight goals in 10 Premier League appearances – only Manchester City’s Erling Haaland has done better with 11. But Spurs still lack depth down the middle so recruitment in that area is a priority right now.

According to GiveMeSport, one of their targets is Santiago Gimenez, who is currently among the top scorers in Europe right now with 13 goals from 11 Eredivisie games. West Ham and Fulham are both keen on acquiring his services but it is understood that Tottenham is a more likely option as Gimenez wants to play Champions League football.

Real Madrid and Barcelona are both keeping tabs on the 22-year-old although any club that wants to pick him up will have to wait until the end of the season with Feyenoord insisting that he is not for sale until then.
