Cricket star hits one of the greatest EVER innings to rescue Pat Cummins&#8217; side with the all-rounder denying Afghanistan a famous victory in Mumbai<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Glenn Maxwell hit one of the greatest innings of all time\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>He rescued Australia from a shock defeat by Afghanistan\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Maxwell battled severe cramp to get his side the victory\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Glenn Maxwell has produced one of the all-time greatest Cricket World Cup innings to save Australia from a humiliating defeat by Afghanistan and confirm their qualification for the semi finals.<\/p>\n<p>Pat Cummins&#8217; side were at one point 91-7 when chasing down a target score of 283 runs, before Maxwell singlehandedly slammed 201 runs off 128 balls to deny the plucky underdogs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The allrounder battled against severe cramp to see his side over the finish line, at one point suffering a serious spasm which required medical attention.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Maxwell missed his side&#8217;s win against England last week after suffering concussion following a freak golf cart accident last week, but returned with a phenomenal knock that will go down in history.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When asked how he is feeling physically, Maxwell said: &#8216;Horrific. I feel shocking.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/07\/16\/77513319-12721359-image-a-12_1699374353928.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Glenn Maxwell produced one of the greatest innings of all time for Australia<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/07\/16\/77513317-12721359-image-a-13_1699374357372.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Pat Cummins&#8217; side were at one point 91-7 before Maxwell rescued his team<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/07\/16\/77513313-12721359-image-a-14_1699374360624.jpg\" height=\"366\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>He battled severe cramps after returning from concussion on Tuesday<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;It was obviously quite hot when we were fielding today and I haven&#8217;t really done a whole lot of high intensity exercise in the heat and it certainly got a hold of me today. Luckily enough I was able to stick it out until the end.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Maxwell admitted he was lucky not to be sent back to the sheds early on after seeing a catch dropped but was pleased that he capitalised on that second life.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;It was basically to stick to our own batting plans. For me it was still trying to be positive, still trying to produce bad balls, if I was defensive then they&#8217;d build pressure.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I led a charmed life out there, I was very lucky and made the most out of that.
