Given his age and past injury record, his future at Test level looked uncertain moving forward.<\/p>\n<p>But the powerhouse back\u2019s club coach \u2013 Sale director of rugby Alex Sanderson \u2013 said Tuilagi is still committed to England moving forwards.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Manu&#8217;s got a plate in his hand from a fracture from the World Cup,\u2019 Sanderson said.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018He is going to be out for four to six weeks. Knowing Manu, it will be three to five.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/07\/19\/77520269-0-image-a-25_1699385062675.jpg\" height=\"856\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>England centre Manu Tuilagi is set to miss up to six weeks with a broken hand<\/p>\n<p>\u2018He broke it against Samoa and then broke it again in the third place play-off. It is just collateral damage from playing in the World Cup.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I asked him: \u201cHow was it Manu? Are you hanging up your international boots?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2018He was like: \u201cYou will have to put me down physically, lethally inject me, to stop me playing international rugby\u201d. He is loving it at the moment.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Tuilagi is unlikely to play until at least the start of European competition in December.<\/p>\n<p>Sanderson is also monitoring the fitness of England\u2019s Tom Curry following the World Cup ahead of his team\u2019s game with Bristol on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Luke Cowan-Dickie is available for the Ashton Gate trip.<\/p>\n<p>World Cup darlings Portugal will have the chance to continue the impressive form they showed in France by taking on an England A side on February 25.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/07\/19\/77520543-0-image-a-36_1699385581067.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Tuilagi, 32, won his 59th cap as Steve Borthwick\u2019s side finished third at the World Cup in France<\/p>\n<p>The RFU is reintroducing the team \u2013 which was previously known as England Saxons \u2013 as a way of improving the country\u2019s rugby development pathway system for young players.<\/p>\n<p>England A haven\u2019t played a game since 2016 but that will change next year when they face Os Lobos who famously claimed the scalp of Fiji and drew with Georgia at the World Cup by playing an attractive brand of rugby. The game will be held at Leicester\u2019s Welford Road and during the Six Nations, so the side will be selected by senior England head coach Steve Borthwick.<\/p>\n<p>It is likely to contain wider members of Borthwick\u2019s squad who won\u2019t have been involved in the round three Six Nations game with Scotland in Edinburgh the day previously.<\/p>\n<p>The match is still subject to World Rugby approval.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Portugal demonstrated their capabilities as a rugby nation on the world stage in recent months with their attacking flair and passion,\u2019 said RFU director of performance Conor O\u2019Shea.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018They are a team possessing many bright stars for the future and are a befitting opponent for our A squad.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018England Rugby wants to be part of providing gametime and mutual collaboration for emerging nations such as Portugal who have a great deal to offer to the game.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/07\/19\/77520429-0-image-a-26_1699385329830.jpg\" height=\"765\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Sale are also monitoring the fitness of England\u2019s Tom Curry following the World Cup<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I&#8217;m sure both they and our A side will gain a lot from February\u2019s match.
