I think the players did, everybody at the club did. It showed again that we are one and ready for anything that comes across to fight it in the best possible way.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/07\/22\/77527233-12722377-image-a-12_1699395289587.jpg\" height=\"479\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Mikel Arteta launched a scathing attack on the refereeing standards of his side&#8217;s defeat to Newcastle<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/07\/21\/77525317-12722377-image-a-2_1699392790529.jpg\" height=\"414\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Anthony Gordon&#8217;s winner was shrouded in controversy having been checked three times by VAR<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/07\/22\/77527177-12722377-image-a-13_1699395295634.jpg\" height=\"436\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Arsenal released a club statement doubling down on Arteta&#8217;s claim awarding the goal was &#8217;embarrassing&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I and the club would do it again until this is right.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The outburst was not the result of just the Newcastle defeat, having felt slighted by previous decisions going back to last season.<\/p>\n<p>As Mail Sport revealed Arsenal are set to cite the refereeing decisions that have gone against them since the last campaign in their next meeting in a bid to prove a pattern.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Things don\u2019t happen overnight,\u2019 he said. \u2018When I was that clear and had all the evidence to stand for the words I used in the media, it\u2019s because I feel strongly about them.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018One thing is saying it externally, internally to my players it\u2019s how we can play better, be more dominant and play the way we want so we give no chance to the opponent.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018But one thing is my duty to you guys and then my duty as a coach to do what I have to. This is exactly what I\u2019ve done. Nothing special, nothing different.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Reacting to Ange Postecoglou\u2019s comments on Monday night, where the Tottenham boss said \u2018I\u2019ll respect the referee\u2019s decision, right or wrong\u2019 after a 4-1 defeat to Chelsea in which two Spurs players were sent off, Arteta said: \u2018I fully agree that we have to respect. And that\u2019s what we try to do.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018To respect them we have to stand there like I did on the touchline the other day. To respect them as well you have to have good trust and the capacity to have a conversation and opinions, that\u2019s how respect is built.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Arsenal\u2019s focus on Wednesday is Sevilla, who they beat 2-1 away from home last time out. If the Gunners win and PSV lose their respective games, Arsenal are through to the Champions League last 16.<\/p>\n<p>Arteta will be sweating on the fitness of captain Martin Odegaard, who missed the defeat at Newcastle, and Eddie Nketiah, who missed training on Tuesday. He is very doubtful. He has an injury that doesn\u2019t seem to let go. We\u2019ll have to see what happens this week.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Arteta has been left impressed with his players\u2019 maturity in Europe this season, topping Group B at present.
