Anti-Glazer protests will resume before Manchester United’s game against Luton Town at Old Trafford on Saturday after pausing as a mark of respect to Sir Bobby Charlton.

The 1958 group have announced a new wave of demonstrations to try and force the club’s American owners into a full sale as talks continue over a £1.4billion investment from British business magnate Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

The protests have been on hold in recent weeks since the death of United legend Charlton at the age of 86, with anti-Glazer banners also absent from Old Trafford.

But a spokesman for The 1958 confirmed that the campaign will now ramp up again, and called for fans to congregate for a peaceful protest at the north-east quadrant of the ground at 2pm on Saturday.

‘The fight remains in full force,’ said Steve Crompton. ‘There was a natural impasse to reflect the sad passing of Sir Bobby, but we will never give up until the greedy Glazers have been removed from our club in their entirety. Let there be no doubt. The fight is not over. In many ways it’s only just begun.

‘We believe the last 12 months has proved beyond any doubt that the Glazers only care about one thing; cold hard cash.

‘They are not fit to be custodians of one of the world’s most iconic football institutions.

‘But they cannot buy the love we hold for our club. We call on supporters around the world to stand united with us at Old Trafford on Saturday.’
