Michael Schumacher will be the focus of a bombshell new documentary a decade on from his devastating skiing accident.

The 54-year-old F1 icon, who is tied with Lewis Hamilton as the most successful driver in the history of the sport with seven drivers' world championships, has not been seen since suffering a blow to the head in the French Alps in 2013.

Having been cared for by his wife Corinna Schumacher and children Gina-Maria and Mick as well as nurses, former Ferrari boss Jean Todt is one of few figures to offer updates out of respect for privacy. He said last year that they have even watched races together on TV.

Now, a new five-part documentary that is set to air in his native Germany could offer new details nine years after he was gradually withdrawn from a medically induced coma.

German broadcaster ARD will be producing the new series, report The Sun, two years after a Netflix documentary about their family which starred his wife Corinna.

Only immediate friends and family including Todt have been able to visit the motorsport icon, with Eddie Jordan understanding why his request wasn't accepted.

Todt told Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera last year: "Let's leave him alone. We respect the privacy wishes of Corinna and her children, although we know of course that the accident had consequences.

"But anyone who says he knows something, knows nothing. I always go to see him. He and his family are my family."

Timo Glock, a former F1 driver who was close with Schumacher has also spoken about his condition and said that the privacy needs to remain.

He said: "I keep in contact with Mick Schumacher as he and I get along well.

"I've also known other members of his family for a very long time, but I try not to impose on their privacy. I respect their right to be private, and I don't discuss Michael's condition with them."

Mick, 24, raced in F1 for Haas in both 2021 and 2022 and is currently the reserve driver for both Mercedes AMG and McLaren.
