Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has explained why he was shown a yellow card in the 1-0 win over Luton Town on Saturday, which subsequently earned him a one-match suspension. The Dutchman will not be in the dugout for their next game after being hit with a touchline ban for accumulating too many yellow cards, and he has npw revealed how he landed himself in trouble with the officials.<\/p>\n

The 53-year-old will be suspended for their next Premier League clash against Everton at Goodison Park on November 26 when the teams return to action after the international break.<\/p>\n

He was booked by referee Graham Scott in injury-time after he was seen shouting and gesticulating in the official’s direction in his technical area.<\/p>\n

And that caution has landed him in a spot of bother, with Ten Hag has been booked on two other occasions already this season. Three yellow cards equates to a one-match touchline ban, meaning the United boss won’t be present in the dugout for the game in a fortnight.<\/p>\n

And he sought to explain why he was punished by the referee for his actions, with Ten Hag also revealing his plan for who will take charge of the United squad for the Everton game.<\/p>\n

Asked what prompted the booking at his post-match press conference, Ten Hag said: “So it was about a moment that was so clear, a throw-in [that went against Manchester United].<\/p>\n

“But it was the second time, and I was so on top of it, and it was so clear and obvious that it was our ball. It was my remark, therefore I got booked.”<\/p>\n
