Remembrance Sunday: Last Post played at The Cenotaph

Nottingham Forest have made a heartwarming gesture to the young supporter who struggled to get through his Last Post performance last Sunday at the City Ground. The poignant tune is played annually in November to mark Remembrance Day and ahead of Sunday’s memorial service, football teams from around the country will observe a two minute silence.

The song, which represents the bugle used by the British Army as an effective form of communication to signal the camp was secure for the night, is usually played by a member of the armed forces.

But Forest gave 16-year-old Caiden Storry the chance to perform – only for nerves to get the better of him halfway through. The youngster showed his bravery as he tried to continue but his attempts proved to be fruitless.

The 25,000-strong crowd had already gone silent to respect the Last Post performance but gave the teenager a rousing reception when they quickly recognised what had happened.
