A reward of about \u00a340,000 was offered for crucial information.<\/p>\n<p>Hundreds of people took to the streets of Barrancas to demand his safe release, with Colombia&#8217;s police and military forces working together in an effort to bring him home safely.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/12\/01\/77695607-12739137-He_thanked_God_for_a_second_chance_after_he_was_taken_into_the_h-a-74_1699752537893.jpg\" height=\"414\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>He thanked God for a &#8216;second chance&#8217; after\u00a0he was taken into the hands of a &#8216;humanitarian commission&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, he\u00a0was taken into the hands of a &#8216;humanitarian commission&#8217; made up of the Catholic church and the UN.<\/p>\n<p>Breaking down in tears as he spoke for the first time since his release, Diaz Sr said: &#8216;I ask my brothers from the mountains, let&#8217;s put down our weapons, let&#8217;s use the pen and the notebook, let&#8217;s work to make it Colombia is the country that has the best peace.<\/p>\n<p>Friends and family gathered in his neighbourhood to greet him upon his return, with Diaz thanking God for &#8216;a second chance&#8217; after driving back home.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I thank Colombia for this great support&#8217;, he added. &#8216;Very soon I will have the opportunity to greet them and give them a hug.
