Ben Davies admits he is beginning to wonder whether Tottenham’s Premier League rivals are starting to catch on to Ange Postecoglou’s front-foot football after Spurs fell to a second consecutive defeat on Saturday against Wolves.

Postecoglou has revolutionised the way Tottenham play since coming through the door in the summer. Last season, the north Londoners limped to eighth place in the Premier League as they missed out on European football for the first time since 2009.

But under Postecoglou, Spurs look like genuine title contenders. Following a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace on matchday 10, Tottenham held a comfortable five-point lead over their closest rivals at the top of the Premier League table, however, back-to-back losses to Chelsea and Wolves have since seen them drop to third.

Postecoglou’s aggressive high-pressing style of play has caused top-flight teams all kinds of problems this year but a 2-1 loss at Molineux at the weekend is cause for concern.

Spurs defender Davies says “everybody fully believes” in the manager’s attacking principles but he concedes that teams may be starting to adapt to their approach. “It was just one of those days when the result didn’t click for us,” he told assembled media after the game.

“Teams are watching how we have played and they are going to adapt to what they see as our strengths. It’s up to us to figure that out as we go along.”
