Man Utd are still struggling despite Luton win | Football Digest

Manchester United have confirmed that Rasmus Hojlund and Christian Eriksen will spend time on the treatment table after withdrawing from Denmark’s squad for their upcoming international fixtures. Both players were injured during United’s win over Luton Town on the weekend, which saw the Red Devils claim all three points thanks to a rare Victor Lindelof goal.

United have since confirmed that Hojlund suffered a muscle strain against the Hatters but the 20-year-old could be in line to return before the end of November. Eriksen, meanwhile, picked up a knee injury that will keep him out of action for around a month if he manages to recover without any further setbacks.

A statement reads: “Christian has a knee injury that is set to keep him out for around a month, while striker Rasmus suffered a muscle strain. It is hoped he will return before the end of November.”

The injuries to Hojlund and Eriksen will compound Erik ten Hag’s growing injury woes at United, with the Red Devils already missing a large number of senior players. The likes of Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, Jonny Evans and Casemiro have been sidelined as of late, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka was not involved against Luton due to illness.

Ten Hag recently admitted that United’s injury list was a ‘concern’ but insisted that his squad was capable of getting results despite many of their current absentees being regular starters when fit.

“You have to deal with it and we always get the results, apart from the period we are in now,” said the United boss. “It’s a concern but that’s why we constructed the squad with depth, so we can deal with it. The squad can deal with it.
