Premier League fans have fumed that Manchester City should end up in non-league after Everton were slapped with a 10-point deduction on Friday.

In February, Pep Guardiola's side were charged with 115 financial fair play breaches – which they have denied. Their alleged breaches have been referred to an independent committee. However, a decision from the independent committee is yet to be decided.

After Everton were slapped with the points deduction for breaching the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules, football fans have demanded a severe punishment for Guardiola side, if they are found guilty. . "That’s Man City relegated to National League then," one fan fumed.

"By my calculations Man City's imminent, equivalent 1150 points deduction puts them into the Vanarama National League North next season? Really looking forward to the big derby with Curzon Ashton," a second joked.

"If where getting 10 points Man City should end up in the Non-League," a third fumed. And another added: "Everton getting deducted 10 points for just 1 breach surely means that Man City should be playing in non-league soon?!"

Everton recorded losses of £371.8m over the previous three years and have vowed to fight the points deduction. In a statement, they said: "Everton Football Club is both shocked and disappointed by the ruling of the Premier League’s Commission.

"The club believes that the Commission has imposed a wholly disproportionate and unjust sporting sanction. The club has already communicated its intention to appeal the decision to the Premier League."

The Toffees have now dropped into the relegation zone due to the points deduction, which leaves them above rock-bottom Burnley on goal difference.
