Wolves have begun searching for goalkeeper replacements with a host of Saudi Arabian sides wanting to secure Jose Sa’s exit from the club, according to reports.

The 30-year-old extended his stay at Molineux after signing a fresh four-year contract in September that also boasts a one-year extension option.

However, Saudi Pro League sides are keen to try and secure his services as they continue their recruitment drive targeting Premier League players.

Should he move then Sa would be joining a cohort of former Wolves players who swapped England for the Middle East, with previous club captain Ruben Neves one of the biggest names to leave the English top-flight in favour of a £47m transfer to Al Hilal.

Sa would be in store for a huge pay increase if he moves to the oil-rich nation and Wolves want to recoup around £40m for the Portugal international, as reported by The Sun.

Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa is reportedly being pursued in a £40m deal by Saudi Arabian sides

Sa has played every minute of Wolves’ Premier League campaign so far this season

However, his departure could unhinge some of the positive progress being made under head coach Gary O’Neil who has trusted Sa between the sticks for every Premier League game this season.

His experience has provided a key foundation for Wolves to build on with their recent wins over Man City and Tottenham giving them a 10-point gap to the relegation zone.

Wolves have began identifying for replacements to fit into Gary O’Neil’s (pictured) side

Wolves’ goalkeeping coach Neil Cutler has already started identifying potential replacements in the wake of Saudi Arabia’s pursuit of Sa.

It is likely that some of money recouped on Sa would be used to bring in a new shot-stopper with back-up goalkeeper Dan Bentley the only recognised senior number one if Sa leaves.

Sa joined Wolves in a £6.25m switch from Greek side Olympiacos two-years ago as a then-replacement for fellow Portuguese goalkeeper Rui Patricio.

He has since made 88 appearances for the club and conceded 117 goals in the process.
