Ronnie O’Sullivan explains why he made a 146 in 2016

Ronnie O’Sullivan has led a very different life to many of his snooker counterparts and now lives a luxury lifestyle in China. The 47-year-old is currently ranked world No 1 and cashes in on his stardom at exhibition matches across the globe.

O’Sullivan has previously spoken about falling out of love with snooker and took a year out of competition in 2012. Rumours of his retirement have been rife for years and O’Sullivan said that once he stops playing he won’t return.

He told the Times: “If I haven’t got a tournament, I never pick up a cue, so I know that I’ll never, ever go near a table again. It wouldn’t interest me.” The obsessive personality of O’Sullivan means the star could be about to turn his hand to racing car simulators after testing one out with a former F1 driver.

He added: “I’ve just ordered one, so I’d get the table taken out and get three or four simulators put in there.” O’Sullivan’s love for playing snooker in China was clear when the star beat world champion Luca Brecel in September’s Shanghai Masters.

Despite winning the title for a fourth consecutive time O’Sullivan said that he was giving his trophy away stating that they had little emotional value to him.

He told the BBC: “I’ll be giving the trophy to my friend who is opening up a club here. It will be staying in China. I always give them away. I’m not really bothered about trophies. I’ve sold quite a few of them – I don’t want any memorabilia left by the time I’m 70 or 80.”
