Aussie boxer Mark Schleibs is back in the win column after four years thanks to a vicious knockout victory over Shamal Ram Anuj.

The 30-year-old had not won a boxing bout since 2019 and most recently lost by technical knockout to Rocky Ogden earlier this year. Schleibs was back in action on Wednesday (November 22) as he took on the Fiji fighter as he breezed to a brutal knockout win that stunned the commentators.

On the Main Event broadcast, Dan Ginnane said: "He is celebrating already, that's a vicious shot that's ended this fight and Mark Schleibs is back" while former Aussie world champion Billy Dib was in awe of his compatriot as he added: "Wow, he's asleep, what a statement."

Dib, 38, insisted that Schleibs' left hook finish is deserving of an award as he said: "Is that knockout of the year? That's got to be knockout of the year. That has to be knockout of the year." The bantamweight's record now stands at 13-2 with two knockouts to his name.

He was extremely emotional in his post-fight interview, as he opened up about having to go almost a year without seeing his eight-year-old son. "Nine months without my kid. Crying everyday before training. I love you Oscar, I hope you're proud of me son," Schleibs said.

"As long as you love me son, I'm always going to be a world champion. My mum, in and out of the psych (psychiatric) ward, looking after her. Just a lot of relief." Prior to the fight, he spoke to Fox Sports about how he'd be in tears when driving past his son's house, who currently lives with his mother, after training.

He opened up about mistakes he made when his son was born, admitting that he "played up" on his mum but insists that's grown and become a different person since then. "I know there are two sides to every story and when Oscar was conceived, I was young, wasn’t boxing, played up on his mum, doing all sorts of stuff.
