Ex-Everton star Oumar Niasse's love affair with English football continues after he was announced as Macclesfield Town's newest signing.

The 33-year-old cost the Premier League club £13.5million back in 2016 after being signed by manager Roberto Martinez in the January transfer window. It was an uninspiring period on Merseyside for Niasse, who played just 42 games for the club, scoring nine goals.

After his release in 2020, he enjoyed brief stints in the lower divisions of English football with the likes of Huddersfield Town, Burton Albion and Morecambe.

The pair played together during Niasse's loan spell at the club in 2017. Bruce was appointed Macc manager last month, having played for the club in 2021.

Macclesfield announced Niasse's signing on social media with a statement that read: "Macclesfield FC are delighted to have agreed terms to the signing of former Everton and Hull City striker Oumar Niasse on a short term deal subject to league approval.
