The son of legendary driver Michael Schumacher, Mick lost his place with Haas after being dropped at the end of the 2022 season.<\/p>\n<p>He subsequently became a reserve driver for Mercedes behind Lewis Hamilton and George Russell this season with the hopes of finding a new team for the next season. And he has now made the decision to take his talents to the World Endurance Championships and will drive for Alpine.<\/p>\n<p>He is still set to remain as the reserve driver with Mercedes in 2024 in what could be a grueling year for the 24-year-old. It was a decision that Schumacher did not make lightly, and he has admitted that he spoke to four-time championship winner and close friend Vettel for advice.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Schumacher told reporters: &#8220;I spoke to a couple of drivers. I spoke to Timo Glock and I\u2019ve briefly spoken with Sebastian about it as well.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Obviously this has been a factor. He knows so much about motorsport that it was also a very clear point for me to go and ask him about his opinion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.images.express.co.uk\/img\/dynamic\/73\/590x\/secondary\/5081787.jpg?r=1700756168814\"><\/p>\n<p>Schumacher will use the championship as a way to impress and did not want to sit out another year of racing as he had in 2023. His ultimate goal will be back to get back to the F1.<\/p>\n<p>He said: &#8220;Obviously, having to sit out a full year has been tough and I\u2019m just excited to be back in the car and go race and obviously have a new challenge again.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That was for sure the aim. Obviously, I\u2019m a racing driver.
