A professional boxer has been remanded in custody after claims he abused two partners over a period of 17 years.

A court heard that Ronnie Clark, 38, allegedly assaulted a woman in 2006 by seizing her by the neck and pinning her against a wall, according to The Courier. Clarke, from Dundee, is accused of conducting himself in a disorderly manner on various occasions and in several locations between 2006 and 2012. It is alleged that he engaged in a coercive course of conduct.

Clark is also accused of attacking a second partner between 2017 and 2023. At a property in Dundee, he allegedly grabbed the woman by the neck and compressed it, restricting her breathing.

Clark allegedly headbutted her repeatedly and one occasion left her unconscious. He is also said to have wrapped a seatbelt around her neck and pulled it to restrict her breathing while she was driving.

The woman’s life was allegedly put in danger as well as being left severely injured and permanently disfigured. A final charge alleges that the same woman was subjected to a campaign of abuse by Clark. During that time, it is claimed he acted in a controlling and coercive manner.

Clark, of no fixed address, made no plea and was remanded by Sheriff George Way after appearing in private at Dundee Sheriff Court. Clark, nicknamed ‘The Shark’, has had 31 professional fights, winning 21, losing eight and drawing two.

His last fight was a defeat to Craig Woodruff in Cardiff in March 2022. It was his fourth successive defeat.
