<\/p>\nManchester City could be set for turmoil after Real Madrid identified Roberto De Zerbi as the man to take over from Carlo Ancelotti.<\/p>\n
The Brighton manager has established himself as one of the most in-demand coaches in Europe thanks to his exploits in the Premier League. The club finished sixth last season – their highest-ever finish in the top-flight – as they qualified for Europe for the first time in their history.<\/p>\n
Those achievements certainly didn't go unnoticed by the Spanish giants who've earmarked the Italian as the man to take the reigns from Carlo Ancelotti whose contract ends in June 2024. Madrid have reportedly made contact with the 44-year-old as according to Spanish newspaper Sport<\/i>, he is considered \u2018the ideal profile to lead a reconstruction project\u2019 next season.<\/p>\n

The news will certainly dampen plans Manchester City may have of appointing De Zerbi when Guardiola eventually leaves the club. Many have suggested the Italian is a natural successor to the Spaniard who waxed lyrical about him prior to their team's clash last month which City won 2-1.<\/p>\n
"There is no team playing the way they play – it's unique,\u201d Guardiola said about De Zerbi's Brighton. "I had the feeling when he arrived the impact he would have in the Premier League would be great – I didn't expect him to do it in this short space of time.<\/p>\n
