Ange Postecoglou has taken the Premier League by storm since joining Tottenham from Celtic in the summer.

The previously unheralded Australian coach has completely transformed the mood and playing style at Spurs after a dismal season last year that saw them miss out on European football for the first time in 14 years.

After being named as Manager of the Month for October, he became the first boss in history to win the award in the opening three months of a Premier League season.

Spurs’ progress was slightly halted by defeats to Chelsea and Wolves prior to the international break, but it has still been a fine start to the campaign.

Postecoglou sat down with Mail Sport’s It’s All Kicking Off podcast this week for an exclusive in-depth chat with IAN LADYMAN and CHRIS SUTTON where discussions included life at Spurs, his playing philosophy, being an Australian football manager and family.

The insight into the 58-year-old former Celtic, Australia, Yokohama F. Marinos and Melbourne Victory boss has fascinated Mail Sport readers, with several heaping praise on Postecoglou as a result.

One supporter said: ‘Always has come across as a decent and honest man. Good luck Ange.’

This was echoed by other readers who similarly liked the way the Australian conducts himself.

They said: ‘One of the most humble, likeable and understandable managers in modern times. Post game pressers are actually insightful when he talks.’

Another added: ‘I can see most neutrals loving and respecting this man, most managers and footballers do feed us the “proper, scripted responses”, but you can’t help but feel he is genuine…’

‘He’s a cool customer. Like him or not you have to admit that,’ proclaimed a further reader.

Mail Sport readers hailed Postecoglou after the interview and praised his demeanour

Given Spurs finished eighth in 2022-23 in a campaign that saw them have three coaches at the helm, significant off-field chaos and a seemingly never-ending managerial search in the summer before Postecoglou’s appointment, it is fair to say expectations were low ahead of this season.

This was added to when talisman Harry Kane moved to Bayern Munich on the eve of this season.

However, the Australian hasn’t allowed this to deter his side’s progress and fans were quick to pick up on how he is overachieving.

One Mail Sport reader said: ‘Not a Spurs fan… but big Ange is a breath of fresh air, down to earth, and pushing a very average Spurs side up the table, fair play to him.’

A further reader explained: ‘I like the guy. His passion for the game and his relentless attacking style are admirable. I don’t think he has the squad to mount a genuine title challenge but if I were a Spurs fan I’d be very happy and optimistic.

‘It’s very clear to see his players would already run through brick walls for him and a team with that mentality should never be underestimated.’

One user even tipped him to go onto other things so great has his impact been so far in north London.

The reader said: ‘Seems a very nice person and a good manager whose players warm to as well as the supporters.

Others hailed him for his early success at Spurs where they suggested he is overachieving

‘I’m sure Liverpool will look at him as a candidate if he has some success with Spurs as Klopp will walk away in a couple of seasons and the big plus is he is a massive Liverpool supporter.’

Meanwhile, a Spurs fan explained how the interview with Mail Sport had only increased their faith in the Australian as they said: ‘No, it doesn’t change anything for us Spurs fans, if we lose the next 1,2,3 or however many games, the fans are behind him.

‘We can see he fits the ethos of the club, we have always been the club that plays a certain way, the SPURS way. If it takes 2 or (3) seasons, Levy needs to stick with him and invest in him and the team and eventually it will pay dividends…’

Spurs are back in action on Sunday when they host high-flying Aston Villa on Sunday at 2pm.
