Former Manchester United and West Ham midfielder Ravel Morrison has been heavily fined after being caught using a dead person\u2019s blue parking badge. The 30-year-old, who currently plays for D.C\u00a0United,\u00a0was ordered to pay \u00a31,908 after being convicted of fraud.<\/p>\n

Manchester Evening News\u00a0reports\u00a0that\u00a0a council parking warden saw Morrison\u2019s car parked in Castlefield in May last year. When\u00a0the\u00a0parking warden checked the legitimacy of the blue badge they found that its owner had died the previous year.<\/p>\n

When interviewed under caution Morrison, who played for Derby County during the 2021\/22 season, said he had bought the badge\u00a0from\u00a0‘someone in\u00a0Old Trafford.’ The midfielder pleaded guilty at\u00a0Manchester Magistrates Court\u00a0to a count of fraud.<\/p>\n

Morrison,\u00a0who gave a Warrington\u00a0address,\u00a0was fined \u00a31,000 for the offence, ordered to pay \u00a3508.32 in costs and a victim surcharge of \u00a3400.\u00a0A spokesman for Manchester City Council said: \u201cThis ruling shows that the law is applicable to everyone, with no exceptions.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am grateful for the diligent work of our investigating officers as well as legal counsel who were able to successfully prosecute this case. Our officers patrol the streets daily to ensure that Blue Badges are used legitimately, and we will not hesitate to take action if we discover people trying to circumvent the law.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite playing for England age group sides Morrison made his senior international debut for Jamaica and has made 18 appearances scoring two goals. The attacking midfielder has struggled to make a single club his home clocking up 11 sides in 11 years earlier in his career.<\/p>\n
