<\/p>\nNotts County put on one of the most shambolic defensive displays to \u201cgift\u201d an opponent a hat-trick in the FA Cup.<\/p>\n
Ryan Bowman netted three for Shrewsbury at Meadow Lane to put his side through to the third round of the cup. But the 32-year-old will never score an easier hat-trick, with all three goals in Shrewsbury's 3-2 win coming as a direct result of some calamitous defending.<\/p>\n
The visitors were gifted the lead in the opening minute as a nervous Aden Baldwin\u2019s slip led Dan Udoh to capitalise, setting up Bowman for a simple finish. Richard Brindley was able to equalise before half time – but there were more shocking errors at the back to come for the Magpies.<\/p>\n

A combination of mistakes saw Notts County defenders dispossessed twice as they fumbled around with it at the back, before Bowman ran on to tuck away his second 49 minutes in. And the League Two side were the architects of their own downfall again seven minutes later.<\/p>\n
A woeful clearance from Notts County saw the ball fall dangerously inside their own box. Baldwin, having failed to recover from his early mistake, rose up to head the ball back but only as far as Bowman, who once again pounced and finished clinically.<\/p>\n

All three goals were conceded in comical fashion. And fans on social media had \u201cnever seen anything like it\u201d as they poked fun at the horrendous mistakes.<\/p>\n
One X user wrote: \u201cIt doesn\u2019t get much worse than this,\u201d while another tweeted: \u201cThe first gift of Christmas.\u201d<\/p>\n

A third commented: \u201cSchool boy defending is an insult to school boys,\u201d while a fourth added: \u201cNever seen anything like it.\u201d<\/p>\n
