{"id":296542,"date":"2023-12-12T16:15:13","date_gmt":"2023-12-12T16:15:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportsloveme.com\/?p=296542"},"modified":"2023-12-12T16:15:13","modified_gmt":"2023-12-12T16:15:13","slug":"jamie-redknapp-says-promoted-clubs-need-footballing-miracle-to-stay-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportsloveme.com\/soccer\/jamie-redknapp-says-promoted-clubs-need-footballing-miracle-to-stay-up\/","title":{"rendered":"Jamie Redknapp says promoted clubs need footballing miracle to stay up"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1> Jamie Redknapp claims it would be a &#8216;footballing miracle&#8217; if Luton, Burnley or Sheffield United avoid Premier League relegation &#8211; with trio having to &#8216;try and hope&#8217; Nottingham Forest or Crystal Palace get dragged in to battle<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Jamie Redknapp claims it would be a miracle if the promoted teams stayed up\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Luton, Burnley and Sheffield United are the current bottom three in the table\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>Why Steve Cooper&#8217;s sacking at Forest could have a domino effect in the Premier League &#8211; It&#8217;s All Kicking Off\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Jamie Redknapp believes it would be a &#8216;footballing miracle&#8217; for one of Luton, Burnley or Sheffield United to survive in the Premier League this season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The three promoted sides currently occupy the Premier League&#8217;s bottom three, with Luton closest to the dotted line, still four points adrift of 17th placed Everton &#8211; despite the Toffees ten point deduction.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Discussing the relegation battle after the Hatters latest defeat to Manchester City, Redknapp told <span>Sky Sports<\/span> that he thinks the three sides in the bottom three would need a miracle to avoid relegation back to the Championship and won&#8217;t be able to drag any other teams into the mix.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Redknapp said: &#8216;You look at it and you can forget about Everton, they have got too much quality in the team and understanding they&#8217;re gonna get so many results you just got to try and hope you can get a Nottingham Forest or Crystal Palace, Bournemouth are on an incredible run.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Wolves, I don&#8217;t see them in the equation. It&#8217;s going to be so difficult for Luton, Burnley and Sheffield United one of them has to almost produce a footballing miracle that&#8217;s how difficult it is to try and find some wins from somewhere.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/10\/18\/78794373-12847601-image-a-11_1702234232926.jpg\" height=\"359\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Jamie Redknapp thinks it will be a footballing miracle if the promoted teams stay up this year\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/10\/17\/78793251-12847601-image-a-28_1702230374626.jpg\" height=\"419\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Luton have shown some quality and fight but have failed to take advantage of leads in games\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/10\/17\/78793419-12847601-image-a-29_1702230402963.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Sheffield United have turned to Chris Wilder to try and stop them from being relegated\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Luton took the lead against City on Sunday, but went on to lose the game 2-1, having already surrendered leads against Liverpool and Arsenal this season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rob Edwards side have faired slightly better then their fellow promoted clubs, and remain a point above both Burnley and Sheffield United.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Blades had only won one game all season before this weekend, and it resulted in the sacking of Paul Heckingbottom and the return of Chris Wilder in the dugout.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Wilder&#8217;s arrival had an immediate impact on the club&#8217;s fortunes, beating Brentford on Saturday, but Redknapp still doesn&#8217;t think neither promoted club will have enough.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Adding: &#8216;Sheffield United picked up a good one yesterday and have looked a bit in every match.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/10\/17\/78793683-12847601-image-a-38_1702231191261.jpg\" height=\"446\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Burnley&#8217;s only two wins this season have come against their fellow promoted sides\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/10\/18\/78793689-12847601-image-m-48_1702231883875.jpg\" height=\"406\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Vincent Kompany&#8217;s team haven&#8217;t been able to transfer their Championship dominance\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/10\/18\/78793243-12847601-image-a-49_1702231893934.jpg\" height=\"442\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Rob Edwards Luton are still four points behind Everton despite the Toffees 10 point deduction\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I feel so sorry for Rob Edwards, he&#8217;s doing a brilliant job with the players he has at its disposal.\u00a0 He&#8217;s just trying to hang on and trying to get those points, it&#8217;s been heartbreaking obviously against Arsenal midweek and again today, if they could have just got three points, but that&#8217;s the Premier League.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Along with Luton and Sheffield United, Burnley have also struggled and Vincent Kompany has been able to transfer the style of play that saw his team dominate the Championship to the Premier League.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Like the other two promoted teams, the Clarets have only won two games so far this season, both of which have come over the teams they sit in the bottom three with, and have especially struggled at Turf Moore.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Only once in Premier League history have all three promoted sides gone straight back down the following season, and that was in 1997-98.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>That season saw Bolton, Crystal Palace and Barnsley endure a quick return to the second tier, and according to Redknapp this year&#8217;s promoted sides could face a similar fate.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/i\/pix\/2017\/08\/02\/636x90_facebook_ad_sport.png\" width=\"636\" height=\"90\"><br \/>\nSource: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/sport\/football\/article-12847601\/Jamie-Redknapp-claims-footballing-miracle-Luton-Burnley-Sheffield-United-avoid-Premier-League-relegation-trio-having-try-hope-Nottingham-Forest-Crystal-Palace-dragged-battle.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Read Full Article<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jamie Redknapp claims it would be a &#8216;footballing miracle&#8217;
