Pochettino reviews Chelsea’s defeat at Everton

Chelsea are reportedly chasing two exciting deals ahead of the January window but Mauricio Pochettino may need to make further signings to be entirely satisfied. The Blues have been the Premier League’s busiest club in terms of transfers over the last few years and have been widely tipped to buy even more players next month.

Many of Chelsea’s recent signings have been promising youngsters, rather than established first-team players boasting Premier League experience. Two more potential stars of the future could be on their way to Stamford Bridge next month, with the Blues reportedly looking to the Brazilian market in their efforts to hoover up the best young talent.

Palmeiras duo Estevao Willian and Luis Guilherme are thought to have emerged as players of interest to Chelsea, according to 90min. It is claimed that discussions have already been held with their agents over a double deal that would see them move to Chelsea when they turn 18.

Estevao, nicknamed ‘Messinho’ due to his playing style, has been linked with several English clubs after establishing himself as one of Brazil’s top prospects. The winger only made his senior debut for Palmeiras earlier this month after helping the club’s under-20 side to reach the play-off final, where they were beaten by Flamengo on penalties.

Guilherme, meanwhile, has already emerged as a first-team regular for Palmeiras at the age of just 17. He made 19 appearances for the senior team over the course of their 2023 season and will turn 18 in February, which suggests that a summer move to Chelsea could be on the cards.

While both players would certainly help to boost Chelsea’s plans for the future, it seems that Pochettino may have other priorities ahead of the January window. The 51-year-old has already suggested that he wants players to come in and make an impact this season, with the Blues stuck firmly in mid-table and in dire need of ready-made improvements.
