{"id":296709,"date":"2023-12-12T21:24:11","date_gmt":"2023-12-12T21:24:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportsloveme.com\/?p=296709"},"modified":"2023-12-12T21:24:11","modified_gmt":"2023-12-12T21:24:11","slug":"harry-maguire-limps-off-in-first-half-of-man-united-vs-bayern-munich","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportsloveme.com\/soccer\/harry-maguire-limps-off-in-first-half-of-man-united-vs-bayern-munich\/","title":{"rendered":"Harry Maguire limps off in first half of Man United vs Bayern Munich"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1> Harry Maguire limps out of Man United&#8217;s crunch Champions League clash with Bayern Munich with a groin injury&#8230; before Luke Shaw goes off with a hamstring problem to add to Erik ten Hag&#8217;s worries ahead of Liverpool trip<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Harry Maguire left the pitch in the first half of Man United&#8217;s game vs Bayern\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The centre-back seemed to pull up with an injury an seemed in some discomfort<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Man United are stuffed if captain Bruno Fernandes says he thought Bournemouth would be easy &#8211; It&#8217;s All Kicking Off<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Harry Maguire appeared to suffer a groin injury during the first half of Manchester United&#8217;s must-win Champions league clash against Bayern Munich, with Luke Shaw also leaving the field at half-time with an injury.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In what will be a big blow for Erik ten Hag, Maguire limped from the field after pulling up in some discomfort, holding his groin.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The 30-year-old, who had seemed to fall awkwardly sliding to clear a previous ball into the penalty area, received some treatment on the side of the pitch and managed to play on for several minutes before he was substituted for Jonny Evans.<\/p>\n<p>While the nature of the injury is not yet confirmed, Maguire could now be a doubt for United&#8217;s crunch match against Liverpool\u00a0at Anfield next weekend.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>His absence will come as a big blow for United, with the defender having been a stand-out performer for the Red Devils in recent weeks.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/12\/20\/78883763-12856543-image-a-19_1702414000317.jpg\" height=\"435\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/12\/20\/78883765-12856543-image-a-20_1702414006480.jpg\" height=\"408\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/12\/20\/78883761-12856543-image-m-23_1702414017470.jpg\" height=\"534\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Maguire was also recently crowned the Premier League&#8217;s Player of the Month\u00a0for November alongside his manager Erik ten Hag.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He also proved pivotal in the first half, shutting down Leroy Sane who drove into the United penalty area with a mazy run, before Maguire stepped in to take the ball from him.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Shaw also seemed to be struggling with a hamstring injury at the end of the second half, and was replaced by Aaron Wan-Bissaka during the break.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The England left-back has only recently returned from a hamstring problem that had seen him miss large parts of the start of the season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to TNT Sports at half-time, Rio Ferdinand said that things were going from bad to worse for Manchester United.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;It&#8217;s going from bad to worse,&#8217; he said. &#8216;We talked about injuries before and the manager not being able to pick his best side and there&#8217;s two players that have come back in and have gained a bit of confidence and they are two players that you&#8217;d want there at the moment and are gone. A big ask coming on as a substitute, but they&#8217;ve got to do it.
