{"id":297533,"date":"2023-12-21T14:24:33","date_gmt":"2023-12-21T14:24:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportsloveme.com\/?p=297533"},"modified":"2023-12-21T14:24:33","modified_gmt":"2023-12-21T14:24:33","slug":"barcelona-and-real-madrid-due-e1billion-supea-league-loyalty-bonus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportsloveme.com\/soccer\/barcelona-and-real-madrid-due-e1billion-supea-league-loyalty-bonus\/","title":{"rendered":"Barcelona and Real Madrid due &apos;\u20ac1billion Supea League loyalty bonus&apos;"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Barcelona and Real Madrid due &#8216;\u20ac1BILLION loyalty bonus&#8217; if the Super League goes ahead&#8230; with withdrawing clubs &#8216;at risk of \u00a3300million penalty&#8217; after breakaway&#8217;s fresh announcement<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The European Court of Justice ruled in favour of the European Super League\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><span>Barcelona and Real Madrid are the last teams standing from the original\u00a0project<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Arsenal were a better watch last season and played riskier football BUT they have more steel now&#8230; it could take them to the title &#8211; It&#8217;s All Kicking Off\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Barcelona and Real Madrid\u00a0would both net a loyalty bonus of as much as \u20ac1billion\u00a0(\u00a3870m) should the Super League project ultimately emerge, according to reports in Spain.<\/p>\n<p>The Spanish giants have been the <span>survivors of the Super League project launched in 2021, with 12 founder clubs having initially signed up before the majority withdrew after fan protests.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Both clubs have welcomed the E<\/span>uropean Court of Justice&#8217;s ruling that UEFA and FIFA had acted in contravention of EU competition law in sanctioning the rebel European Super League clubs.<\/p>\n<p>The binding ruling handed out marked the latest stage in a legal process initiated by the European Super League Company.<\/p>\n<p>It followed clubs who participated in the breakaway being threatened with sanctions by the governing bodies.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/21\/13\/79211877-12889763-image-a-51_1703163616998.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Barcelona would reportedly net a significant bonus should the Super League project go ahead<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/21\/13\/79211875-12889763-image-m-53_1703163649177.jpg\" height=\"496\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Real Madrid president\u00a0Florentino Perez has been a vocal supporter of the Super League<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/21\/13\/79209723-12889763-It_comes_after_a_court_ruled_UEFA_and_FIFA_acted_unlawfully_in_b-a-54_1703163738145.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The ECJ deemed actions taken by FIFA and UEFA following the announcement of a European Super League to be in contravention of EU law\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n<p>Within hours of the verdict, a new format &#8211; which was revealed by A22 CEO Bernd Reichart &#8211; will see both a men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s competition, with 64 teams competing in the men&#8217;s and 32 in the women&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<p>In term of the men&#8217;s competition, the 64 clubs will be split into three separate leagues &#8211; star, gold and blue &#8211; with the star league the strongest and blue the weakest.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Barcelona based newspaper Sport, the Catalan giants and Real Madrid could both net a bonus potentially as much as \u20ac1billion\u00a0(\u00a3870m) should the competition eventually go ahead.<\/p>\n<p>The report claims the two clubs will be rewarded for their loyalty to the Super League despite pressure from governing bodies and governments.<\/p>\n<p>A significant bonus would be welcomed in particular by Barcelona, with the club a reported\u00a0\u00a3477m (\u20ac552m) in debt.<\/p>\n<p>The remaining 10 founding clubs &#8211; including Premier League sides Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City, Man United and Tottenham &#8211;\u00a0\u00a0who withdraw from the Super League could reportedly face a \u20ac300m (\u00a3260m) fine, it is claimed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Barcelona president\u00a0Joan Laporta welcomed Thursday&#8217;s judgement on the case.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;European Justice agrees with us.
