Boxing fans slam ‘totally wrong’ fight as man, 58, is KO’d on debut vs rival, 23

A 58-year-old boxer was brutally knocked out in less than a minute by a fighter 35 years his junior.

Scott England faced off against Jashawn Hunter, 23, at a boxing event in Nashville, Tennessee, and the fight took a turn for the worse just moments after it started. England missed a punch combo and Hunter retaliated with one that staggered him, sending him sprawling to the ground just seconds after the ball.

England was allowed to continue despite the heavy fall, which saw his head hit the canvas. Although the fight should have been waved off there and then, it was allowed to continue after England beat the 10-count.

However, it did finally come to an end not long after as his corner signalled for the fight to be stopped just 47 seconds in, giving Hunter his first career win. Footage of the fight has since gone viral on social media (via the Mirror).

Fans were disgusted by the age disparity in the fight as one user wrote: "It's a shame his opponent took this fight! Out of respect the young man should not have knocked the old man out like that!" A second comment sarcastically read: "Never in a million years could've predicted this outcome!"

A third user added: "Contrary to popular belief, you are too old to try some things. Unless you're Mike Tyson," with a fourth putting: "I think what we just saw here tells us, don't take up boxing at 59. You might as well go and challenge a semi on the freeway, it ain't gonna turn out alright."

It's not the first and won't be the last time an old-aged boxer has been brutally knocked out by an opponent far younger than him. Kingpyn's inaugural event last July saw 52 year old 'Simple' Simon Colbran left facedown when he was stopped by 19 year old Ed Matthews in just 48 seconds.

In the normal world of boxing, fight fans are gearing up for Ebanie Bridges' hotly-anticipated return to the ring against Miyo Yoshida this weekend. Bridges takes on the Japanese fighter as she bids to defender her IBF bantamweight title.
