Leeds’ FA Cup third round draw had a probability of 0.0122% – breaking a record

Leeds United broke an FA Cup record when they were drawn away from home for the 13th consecutive time.

The Peacocks will travel from West Yorkshire down the M1 to Peterborough after the turn of the year. And it will be another away trip for Leeds fans, who were last drawn at home in the FA Cup to Rotherham in the 15/16 season.

Steve Evans' side managed to beat their South Yorkshire rivals that day at Elland Road – with Mustapha Carayol and Souleymane Doukara grabbing the goals. The odds of this happening 13 times on the bounce is 1/8192 – or 0.0122%.

Leeds have hardly had much to cheer about in the FA Cup down the years, and they were dumped out by non-league sides, back-to-back, during the 16/17 and 17/18 seasons.

"I reckon there is more chance of a person being struck by lightning than Leeds United getting a home draw in the FA Cup," one fan joked. While a second said: "Record breakers at last!"

"Would much rather loads of aways than home ties though, some class days out," a third replied. And another added: "Bet you could spend your entire life in Vegas and never have a run of 13 on red or black…"

Leeds have been enjoying life in the Championship this season, and Daniel Farke's side are currently 3rd in the table. The Peacocks are looking to bounce straight back up to the Premier League after suffering relegation last season.
