Sir Jim Ratcliffe tipped to make double Man Utd signing as duo get green light

Man Utd are making huge changes ahead of Sir Jim Ratcliffe coming into the club | Football Digest

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been told of two “easy” transfers he can make once his deal to purchase a minority stake in Manchester United is confirmed. The INEOS chief is set to buy 25 per cent of the club for approximately £1.3billion, which could be announced in the next few days as he looks to overhaul the Red Devils’ operation.

With the Brit preparing to oversee the sporting side of United once his purchase is ratified by the Premier League, one of his first public tasks will be to conduct a successful January transfer window. Erik ten Hag’s squad is in need of reinforcements after a disappointing start to the season and Ratcliffe could provide that help.

Two Nice players have been linked with moves to Old Trafford in Khephren Thuram and Jean-Clair Todibo. As Ratcliffe also owns the Ligue 1 side he has been tipped to bring the duo with him to England and they already have the backing of former United defender Mikael Silvestre.

“Khephren Thuram and Jean-Clair Todibo definitely have the level to play for Manchester United,” he told Bettingexpert. “And I’m sure they’re on the radar and they will be scrutinised.

“They will probably be put forward because it will be an easy and sensible transition and will make sense for INEOS to get the best scouting reports on these two players specifically. They’re quality players. Both French internationals. Todibo is having a very good season. Thuram, a little bit less this season compared to last season but still a quality midfielder.”

Thuram has been touted as a potential Casemiro successor because the Brazilian has struggled to match the success of his first season since joining from Real Madrid. Meanwhile Raphael Varane’s surprise omissions have seen him linked with a move away, with Todibo a possible replacement.

Another player rumoured to make a move to United is Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann. The Frenchman’s proposed move has since seen cold water poured on it, something Silvestre says makes sense as he felt that Griezmann would not work in the same team as two current stars.

“It’s never too late for a player to make a big move, but I think Antoine Griezmann would be a second (Bruno) Fernandes or (Christian) Eriksen, as Griezmann doesn’t play as a forward anymore,” Silvestre added. “He has been playing deeper recently, so it doesn’t make any sense for Man United to add him to the squad.

“Man United has enough quality in that position, so this wouldn’t be the first move they would make. I don’t think such a move would make sense.”
