Joseph Eubank, the youngest son of boxing legend Chris Eubank, has been charged with two counts of raping a teenage girl.
A girl under the age of 18 reported she had been raped by a man near Brighton Pier on the evening of Friday, July 16 last year. Hove resident Eubank Jr, 27, was then arrested and charged with two counts of rape of a woman over the age of 16.
It's understood Eubank is due to appear before Brighton Magistrates’ Court on January 11, 2024, after he was released on bail with strict conditions. The accused has been 'supported by specialist officers' while an investigation has been carried out.
Eubank's namesake father is rated as one of Britain's best boxing products and once held the WBO middleweight world title. The 57-year-old – nicknamed 'Simply The Best' – is celebrated for his rivalry with Nigel Benn and has become a cult figure since retiring from the sport in 1998.
Another of his sons, Chris Jr, is currently competing in boxing and once held the IBO super-middleweight title, as well as the WBA interim middleweight belt. 'Next Gen' (33-3) most recently avenged a loss against Liam Smith in devastating fashion when he TKO'd the Liverpudlian in the 10th round of their September showdown.
Eubank Sr's other son, Nathanael, has also had a boxing career but fought under the surname 'Wilson'. He holds a 8-2-1 record but hasn't competed since suffering a TKO loss to Stu Greener in January 2020.
Despite hailing from a boxing background, it's unknown whether Joseph holds any history in the ring himself.
Eubank Sr's other son, Sebastian, died of a heart attack while at sea in Dubai in July 2021. Sebastian followed his father into the world of combat and competed in mixed martial arts prior to the tragedy.
Speaking following his son's sudden death, Eubank Sr said: "Never did I ever imagine I would write these words or experience the feeling I now have at the loss of my son."
