Lewis Hamilton taunted for being ‘greedy’ by Lando Norris and team-mate Russell
Lewis Hamilton was jokingly labelled as “greedy” by George Russell, Lando Norris and Alex Albon as the trio discussed his and Max Verstappen’s desire to add more World Championships to their collections.
The legendary Brit already has seven titles to his name in F1 but is still going in search of the eighth World Championship that would move him clear of Michael Schumacher in the record books and avenge the events of the 2021 season finale in Abu Dhabi.
At 38 years of age, time is running out for Hamilton to secure his eighth championship, but after signing a new two-year contract extension with Mercedes, it is clear that he still believes that the team is capable of hunting down Red Bull and giving him race-winning machinery once again.
While Hamilton is hungry to add another title to his tally and stand alone in the record books as the greatest of all time, this hunger attracted some jokes from Russell, Albon and Norris as the three F1 stars reunited ahead of the Qatar Grand Prix.

With the three 2019 rookies reunited, they discussed the hunger to win titles with Russell kicking off the discourse by stating: “As much as you’re enjoying points week in, week out, you probably weren’t satisfied either.”
Norris responded to this by stating: “I guess you’re never satisfied are you,” to which Russell said: “Unless you’re winning championships, and then like Max, he’s probably not satisfied with…”
Russell was then cut off by Norris who, with a smirk, said: “I think he’s very satisfied.” Albon also chimed in on this front, joking: “I think his bank account is satisfied as well,” forcing Russell to backtrack.

“I think he’s satisfied,” Russell explained, “But you know what I mean? It’s like there’s always… Alright, Lewis (Hamilton) as an example, he wants more than seven championships.” This prompted wry smiles from all three drivers with Norris joking: “Yeah that’s just greedy,” before Russell and Albon both agreed.
While Hamilton will need Mercedes to muster some sensational winter development to fight for his eighth title next season, Verstappen is on the brink of adding another to his tally with his third World Championship up for grabs in Qatar this weekend.
The Dutchman, who turned 26 years old on Saturday, needs to score just three points in total across both the sprint race and the Grand Prix at the Lusail circuit to confirm his third successive title with five rounds of the season to spare.
