Machine Gun Kelly responds to awkward Martin Brundle interview after viral clip
Max Verstappen sent offer to quit Red Bull and join F1 rival keen to be his team-mate
Machine Gun Kelly (MGK) has responded to fan’s comments following his “awkward” interview with Martin Brundle on the F1 grid. The Sky Sports commentator was involved in a conversation with the rapper at the Brazilian Grand Prix, who has since shed further light on their exchange.
The interview between the pair went viral following Brundle’s usual round of pre-race gridwalk interviews. The pundit opened the conversation by asking for any update on the rapper’s career, before he was asked to do an impression of an air guitar.
“Can you give me your best air guitar?” MGK asked, with Brundle refusing. The pundit was then pressed by the rapper: “Give me your best air piano. Let’s do an air guitar and air piano collaboration right now. Come on! 3, 2, 1. I need keys, I need keys!”
The broadcaster added: “I probably need to get on as there are some people I need to see.” To which MGK gave a thumbs down to the camera. “Something tells me I won’t be on his Christmas card list this year,” he added before walking off.

The exchange between the pair has since gone viral, causing fans to react to the “Classic cringe” video on X. One post in particular caused the rapper to respond and give his take on the incident.
“My vibe is ‘the worst’ how?” MGK said in a post to his 1.5 million X followers. “Because someone put a microphone in my face essentially forcing me to do a random interview when I was just trying to enjoy an event?
“Because car engines were so loud I couldn’t hear him? please tell me more about why I’m the worst.”

The rapper added later: “My anxiety has won. I hate being in public.”
Despite his claims, fans were still reacting to the video hours after the race had finished. “THE MOST awkwaaarrd interview EVEEEEERRRRR,” one user posted on X.
Some F1 fans were in favor of MGK’s comments and suggested that the grid walk should be retired. “Excruciating. Time to retire the grid walk, Brundle is outside his comfort zone,” a user replied, with another adding: “They stick the mic in anyone’s face at this point”
The race at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace saw Max Verstappen claim the win for Red Bull. The victory was his 17th victory of the season, having won this year’s World Championship back in October during the Qatar sprint race.
The Grand Prix saw McLaren’s Lando Norris finish in second with Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso claiming the last podium spot.
The drivers are next in action at the Las Vegas Grand Prix on Sunday, November 19, where Brundle will be hoping for fewer uncomfortable exchanges.
