Aston Villa star Alisha Lehmann has revealed how superstar rapper Drake recently messaged her and asked for a jersey.

The Switzerland international has become one of the most recognisable faces in the WSL and boasts a staggering following of 16 million users on her Instagram page.

She’s the most-followed women’s footballer in the world and recently became the first female athlete to put pen to paper on a marketing contract with popular drink brand Prime.

And, clearly, her notoriety has crossed international waters as the forward admitted that one of the world’s biggest musicians recently slid into her DMs.

Speaking on the DirTea Talk podcast, Lehmann revealed: ‘That was only three days ago. Drake wrote to me! He asked me for a jersey’.

Drake has rarely showed an interest in football but did make headlines after he placed £814,000 ($1million) on Argentina to beat France in normal time in the World Cup final.

Drake’s bet failed as the match finished level at 2-2 at the end of 90 minutes at the Lusail Stadium.

Meanwhile, Mail Sport reported in July that she was the ‘Instagram Queen of the Women’s World Cup’, with each post to her followers was valued at around £240,000 ($305,000).

Data analysts Nielsen Sports put together a list of the top 10 Instagram influencers among those taking part at the tournament, and finding that Lehmann comes out on top.

Having taken into account the number of followers, rate at which followings have grown, engagement with posts, and the value of each branded post on Instagram with their InfluenceScope tool, Nielsen determined that the Swiss forward delivers the greatest value on social media to sponsors.

In an interview with talkSPORT in February, Lehmann spoke about how she’s dealt with her recent rise to fame.

‘Some people just see Instagram and social media and don’t even know I actually play football, when I don’t post a football picture for a week, people say, ‘oh she doesn’t even play’, she explained.

‘I think sometimes it’s a bit hard because obviously I play like I train every day, like everyone else, like I play every weekend and sometimes it’s hard because they make a picture of you.

‘I’m a proper footballer. I work hard every day. I want to be the best version of myself in football and that’s my first priority in life.’

The 42-cap international joined Villa in 2021 and in August extended her stay in the Midlands until 2026, with the option of a further year.
