Simone Inzaghi’s side got their second league victory of the season as Inter Milan secured a 2-0 win against Cagliari at the Sardegna Arena on Monday evening.

It was a rampant first half display from the visitors that shocked Cagliari, with the Nerazzurri scoring twice inside half-an-hour to take the lead.

Denzel Dumfries powered Milan ahead, skirting through towards the six yard box to receive a through ball from Marcus Thuram and fire a shot into the opposite corner of the goal from a tight angle.

The away side doubled their lead just nine minutes later with Lautaro Martinez using some excellent footwork and composure to control a difficult pass into the box before striking a low shot into corner of the goal.

The Argentine has got off to a brilliant start to the 2023-24 season, with this being his third goal in Inter’s opening two league matches.

His side will now go third in the Serie A standings level with AC Milan, Napoli and Verona, while Cagliari go 15th in the table having drawn one and lost both of their opening two matches.

Inter will take on Fiorentina on Sunday while Cagliari Bologna on Saturday.
