Carabao Cup quarter-final draw details as Man Utd and Liverpool eye next round

Premier League sides will hope to cruise into the Carabao Cup quarter-final this week, with matches to be played on Tuesday and Wednesday. Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea are all in action on Wednesday.

With Manchester City dumped out by Newcastle in the previous round, a domestic piece of silverware is up for grabs for one of their top-flight rivals. Man Utd won the competition last term but are in poor form under Erik ten Hag.

A revitalised Liverpool will fancy their chances. As will the likes of Newcastle, West Ham and Everton, who have long gone without a domestic gong.

Eight matches will take place across Tuesday and Wednesday before the draw takes place. Express Sport brings you all the details.

When will the Carabao Cup quarter-final fixtures take place?

Teams will meet their quarter-final opponents in the week commencing Monday, December 18. These fixtures will be single-legged affairs, before two-legged semi-finals.

The two legs of the Carabao Cup semi-finals will take place on the weeks commencing January 8 and 21, respectively. Teams will compete for a place in the final, which takes place on February 24.

What are the competition rules?

Each team will be permitted to name up to nine substitutes, although only five changes will be allowed during the match. Just like in the Premier League, teams have just three windows to make any personnel changes, excluding half-time.

There will be no extra-time in the quarter-final ties. Matches will go straight to penalties if they are level after 90 minutes. Extra-time is introduced to the competition from the semi-final stage.

Which teams are in the draw?

1. Mansfield or Port Vale

2. Exeter City or Middlesbrough

3. West Ham or Arsenal

4. Everton or Burnley

5. Chelsea or Blackburn

6. Ipswich or Fulham
