Chelsea target Gyokeres has more goal involvements than Haaland and Guirassy
Chelsea have their heart set on a red-hot striker this winter, and there aren’t many in finer form than Viktor Gyokeres. The Sporting forward trumps Manchester City extraordinaire Erling Haaland and Manchester United target Serhou Guirassy in terms of goal involvements this season – and both of those players are among the best in Europe.
Haaland fired City to a silverware treble last term, and his goal-scoring exploits are still proving crucial for Pep Guardiola and co. This campaign he has managed 24 goal involvements in 22 games, despite the Sky Blues’ collective struggles.
Guirassy, meanwhile, has burst onto the scene after a mundane few years in Germany and France. Now with Stuttgart, the 27-year-old’s staggering haul of 18 strikes in 15 matches has seemingly come from nowhere, and he boasts 20 goal contributions in total.
Neither player can compete with Gyokeres, however. The Swede earned his living at Championship side Coventry City last season before signing for Sporting in a deal believed to be worth around £20.6million.

Gyokeres’ value has skyrocketed in the months since, with the Portuguese outfit now demanding the full extent of his £86m release clause. And they may just get it, with the 25-year-old putting up extraordinary numbers following his move overseas.
Scoring again in a vital 2-0 win over FC Porto on Monday night, Gyokeres took his tally to 17 goals in all competitions this season. But what sets him apart from Haaland and Guirassy is his volume of assists – eight in total – which takes his overall number of goal contributions to a dizzying 25.

Chelsea are reported to have placed Gyokeres on a list of attacking targets ahead of the winter window. Co-owner Todd Boehly believes that the club can make more signings while remaining within Financial Fair Play limits, and manager Mauricio Pochettino is keen to welcome reinforcements.
Gyokeres spent three years on the books at scouting gurus Brighton without making a single Premier League appearance. Across two seasons as a permanent signing at Coventry, the Sweden international bagged 40 goals in 97 games.
While the marksman could be on the move in January if Chelsea, or indeed any other interested suitor, cough up his extortionate release clause, there appears to be little chance of Haaland leaving the Etihad Stadium.
But Guirassy may join Gyokeres in pursuing a new challenge amid widespread interest. The Guinea international’s contract reportedly includes a bargain £15m release clause, and Man Utd are understood to have watched Stuttgart’s defeat to Bayern Munich at the weekend as they position themselves to strike.
