Cristiano Ronaldo slammed by fans for response to Lionel Messi’s Ballon d’Or win
Cristiano Ronaldo showed off his sassy side after Lionel Messi won the Ballon d’Or.
The Inter Miami star’s World Cup triumph with Argentina helped him secure his record breaking eighth individual honour. He pipped Manchester City treble winner Erling Haaland and French superstar Kylian Mbappe to the grand prize this year.
In the same period Ronaldo had a messy departure from Manchester United, struggled as Portugal were knocked out of the quarter-finals of the World Cup by Morocco and joined Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr. But while Ronaldo has said on numerous occasions he has plenty of respect for Messi, his reaction to the Argentine skipper winning the award again would suggest he was not thrilled by the news.

Siario AS journalist Tomas Roncero recently went on a rant about Messi’s individual triumph that has since gone viral. He said: "Hello friends. What we knew has happened. They were going to give another Ballon d’Or to Messi.
“He went to retire at Miami, but he was already looking retired at PSG to prepare for the World Cup. He won the World Cup, yes, well, but with 6 penalties in their favour. The World Cup was 10 months ago, we’re in November.

“Messi has eight Ballon d’Ors well, he should have five, he has the Ballon d’Ors of [Andres] Iniesta and Xavi, [Robert] Lewandowski who won six trophies in one season and Haaland who was the top scorer of everything."
Ronaldo liked the controversial post and even contributed to it by commenting four laughing emojis. After seeing the Real Madrid legend’s comment, Messi’s fans have come out in full force to back up their personal hero. “Who else is here to see Ronaldo cry in the comment,” one fan laughed.
“Is this your GOAT? Being so insecure about another player's success,” another Messi fan said in response to a Ronaldo fan.
One fan decided to direct his own scathing comments towards the Portuguese star by writing: “You’re 38 years old. Acting like a 5 year-old. Salty. You will never be better. Messi was, is and will be better than you. And you know it.”
