Dele Alli set for Everton return six months after opening up on personal battles
Dele Alli could be set to make his first appearance for Everton in well over a year during the festive run of fixtures.
The former Tottenham star has been out of action since the back end of last season when he suffered a hip injury at Besiktas. He has also missed the first half of the current campaign after picking up a fresh injury following surgery in the summer.
During that time the 27-year-old also opened up about his personal battles, revealing he spent six weeks in rehab in the USA to help with a sleeping pill addiction. Dele also disclosed intimate details about his childhood, including how he was "molested" at the age of six, and how he dealt drugs at the age of eight.

Dele received widespread support from the entire football community following those admissions, which came during an interview with Gary Neville. It now appears that his return to first-team action could come as soon as Christmas, with Everton manager Sean Dyche hinting that he may be back in full training soon.
"He is going well," said the Toffees boss. "He is back on the grass with the sports science and fitness coaches, going through football related drills, but the actual freedom to come and join in with us is not there yet.

"Hopefully over the next week he will start slowly blending in [with the first team squad]. He still has a bit to go because he has been out for a long time, he needs a game programme, but to get him back on with us would be really pleasing for him because he has been so unlucky.
"The last time, 12-13 weeks ago, when he was going to join us he was so unlucky with the damage that was done. But the good news is that everything is settling down and he is feeling good. I saw him earlier and he said, ‘yes, I’m feeling great’."
Dele has only made one start for Everton since joining from Tottenham in January 2022. That came in a 5-1 defeat to Arsenal on the final day of the 2021-22 season, which saw the Merseysiders finish 16th in the Premier League.
The midfielder joined Besiktas on a season-long loan at the start of last season but only ended up playing 13 games for the Turkish side before his spell was cut short due to injury.
