Dyche urges Everton players to take on next fight after points deduction blow
Sean Dyche insists Everton have to now ‘take on the challenge’ of beating the drop after their Premier League points deduction.
The Toffees’ were left five points adrift of safety after their 3-0 defeat by Manchester United yesterday followed a 10-point deduction for breaching profit and sustainability rules. Everton fans held a huge protest on Sunday in their first game since the commission’s decision as they booed the Premier League anthem and held up ‘corrupt’ placards.
Dyche said: “The messaging is we can cry and worry about it and say it is unjust which I think the whole of football thinks it is. So let’s get on with it.

"There is the appeal but we can’t guarantee that. We have to take on the challenge each week.”
Everton players returned from international duty this week facing a different proposition as they had been eight points clear of the drop zone before they jetted off with their countries. But the defeat by United has sharpened their focus into the gravity of the situation facing them as they face down another scrap for survival.

Dyche added: “It is done and we have to focus on what we are doing, we had good points on the board. We have had a big knock the whole club has but dust that and move forward.”
The Toffees prior to their points deduction – the most severe punishment in the league's history – were in 14th place. They next face 14th placed Nottingham Forest on Saturday, where a win will see them go just two points shy of leaving the relegation zone.
