Everton could be forced to sell their biggest names if takeover is blocked

Everton's star players could be put on the transfer list as soon as January if the takeover of the club is blocked.

Owner Farhad Moshiri is keen to bring his spell as majority owner to the end with optimism growing over a potential agreement with 777 Partners earlier this month. However, it has since emerged that a number of Premier League owners are set to voice concerns over 777 Partners’ source of funding.

In addition, The Mirror now report that the club are anxious that the agreed changing hands of the 94% stake will not be accepted by the Premier League, FA and Financial Conduct Authority.

Co-founded by Steven Pasko and Josh Wander back in 2018, 777 Partners, are an American investment company based in Miami who own several sporting franchises. They have been criticised in the past for the way in which the likes of Standard Liege and Hertha Berlin have been run.

Should the takeover be blocked, players such as Jordan Pickford (who was wanted by Manchester United before they signed Andre Onana), Amadou Onana and Dominic Calvert-Lewin could all be off in January.

According to transfermarkt.com, Onana is Everton's highest-valued player with Calvert-Lewin second. Vitaliy Mykolenko is third, Beto fourth and Pickford fifth.

In October, Everton will sit before an independent commission for an alleged breach of the Premier League’s Financial Fair Play rules. They had posted losses for a fifth successive year.

The financial deficit over that period works out to £430million, with Sean Dyche working with a very limited budget. Everton have already parted ways with Alex Iwobi to Fulham and Moise Kean to Juventus but did bring in Beto for around £25million.

After losing four of their opening five games of the Premier League season, Everton won for the first time against Brentford. The 3-1 win away from home provided some respite for fans, who are uncertain where the club will stand come the move to their new stadium in 2024.
