Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has revealed why he will stick to ‘his way in the religion of football’ as part of his interview with Mail Sport on It’s All Kicking Off.
The Australian has made a stunning start to life as manager in the Premier League, and Tottenham were unbeaten in his first ten Premier League games in charge.
They went into the international break though on the back of consecutive defeats to Chelsea and Wolves – leaving them fourth in the table, albeit, just two points off leaders Manchester City.
It was their 4-1 defeat to Chelsea which got people talking, as his team maintained their attacking style of play despite being reduced to nine men after red cards were shown to Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie.
In his interview with It’s All Kicking Off hosts Ian Ladyman and Chris Sutton, the Spurs boss said: ‘The scrutiny will come but internally, the players and the staff will see I’m not changing. This is who we are going to be.

Postecoglou insists Tottenham can get ‘where we want to’ if they believe in their style of play
‘Yes we’re under demand, yes we are going to have some key players missing but we are going to go out there, whether it’s Aston Villa, Manchester City or whoever and we’re going to play our football.’
He added: ‘I’ve got nine men out there who totally believe in something and for me that’s gold because that’s the biggest part of the battle. Being ourselves, playing our football, we can still get to where we want to.’
When asked by Sutton what would have happened if his side went down to eight players against Chelsea, the Australian joked: ‘I think I said after the game, ‘if we were down to five we’d still have a go’ – well there’s no point defending with five is there you’ve got no chance.’
He concluded: ‘I don’t know any other way. I’ve tried to explain this to people that in terms of football philosophy, I’ve stayed really strict to one religion. I’ve went into a library of football books and I got stuck to one section which was about attacking football.’
Tottenham have a tricky run of fixtures coming up with a home clash against in-form Aston Villa, followed by an away trip to league leaders Manchester City.
