Gary Neville has explained why rooming with David Beckham during their England days never worked out.
The duo rose through the ranks together at Manchester United and were a part of the fabled Class of ’92 that helped Sir Alex Ferguson conquer club football.
With Neville and Beckham flanking each other on the right hand side, the pair struck up a close relationship on the pitch and became best friends off it.
However, on Sky Bet’s Stick to Football podcast, Neville revealed why he and best pal Beckham just were not compatible as room-mates.
The pair decided to share a room while on England duty together but Neville revealed why he ditched Becks for his own brother Phil not long after.

Neville told the Stick to Football podcast: ‘I had Becks [David Beckham] to start with [as an international roommate] but we weren’t compatible in terms of cleanliness and sleeping times – he stayed up late and I went to bed early – so I ended up with Phil [Neville].’
Going into further detail a couple of years back, Neville said: ‘I roomed with him for about six months and then the whole rooming with players completely stopped because everybody went into their own individual rooms.
‘I think they worked out that players weren’t compatible with each other and that each went to bed at different times.
‘I used to go to bed at 9pm and wake up at 5am, he would stay up until 11pm and want to wake up at 8am, so essentially he was keeping me up from 9 until 11 and then I was getting him up at 5 in the morning, so it just wasn’t working at all.
Neville revealed the reasons why he ditched Becks as a room-mate for his own brother Phil
‘He is the cleanest person. He gets into his room, he lights candles, he puts pictures up – everything has to be absolutely perfect, it’s been the same since he was 18.
‘I just throw everything everywhere, so it just did not work at all.
‘I’m always talking, always arguing and he was the complete opposite of that. He would listen to music, he would want peace, he would want to be chilled and it’s just the complete opposite end of the spectrum of where I was at.’
