Joey Barton labels Sky Sports pundit as ‘eye candy’ and makes hen do claim
Joey Barton has dropped another senseless rant by labelling Jamie Redknapp “eye candy”.
The former Bristol Rovers manager has sparked outrage on social media this month by slamming the role of female pundits and commentators in men’s football. Having been sacked by the League One side in October, Barton claimed men who enjoy female commentary “need their heads testing”.
His barrage of non-stop tweets ever since has seen the 41-year-old have a full blown debate with TNT Sports presenter Laura Woods and say that the middle aged British white man is “under attack." And Barton on Sunday night turned his attention to male Sky Sports pundit Redknapp.

He took to X once again to reply to another user’s criticism of Redknapp’s punditry. Barton did not hold back when taking aim at the former Liverpool midfielder, but insisted he is still better placed to talk about men’s football, while using a bizarre Formula One analogy.
“Redknapp,” Barton tweeted with a laughing face emoji. “He’s the eye candy. He’s got to improve also… But at least he’s a formula 1 driver. Driven in a formula 1 car a load of times over about 20 years.

“Some of these girls have won a Go-Karting competition on a Hen do by comparison. And they’ve telling the Formula 1 drivers how to do it.”
And others were quick to respond by labelling the former Manchester City midfielder a sexist. “You’re embarrassing yourself,” one X user wrote in response:
Another replied: “Back to blatant sexism I see,” and a third added: “That’s a frankly ridiculous analogy that is intended to make you sound intelligent but in fact has had the complete opposite effect.”
