‘Ladies and Gentlemen. We found him. We found the Gerrard Regen’ one post read as they added a side-by-side image of the two players in similar celebrating stance.
Another fan echoed the same sentiment by posting matching images of Szobozslai and Gerrard shaping to shoot, alongside the caption ‘We have our own Gerrard regen.’
The same theme continued with another post reading: ‘I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Szoboszlai is Gerrard’s regen.’

Liverpool fans took to social media to declare Szoboszlai as the heir to Steven Gerrard
‘I have already seen enough of Dominik Szoboszlai to tell you that he is the closest thing to Steven Gerrard that I’ve seen since his retirement.
Szoboszlai will be in the Kevin De Bryune and Eden Hazard category in no time. And if he stays at Liverpool for a 5-6 years, he will be in the Gerrard, Scholes, Lampard conversation. You heard it here first.
Unreal talent, great attitude and the best coach behind him – Sky is the limit.’
Gerrard played over 700 games for Liverpool, scoring 185 goals and led the club to to two FA Cups, three League Cups, the UEFA Cup and that glorious night in Istanbul in 2005 when they won the Champions League after coming from three goals down against AC Milan.
Szoboszlai has some way to go to emulate those feats, but he did help Liverpool turn around their Carabao Cup tie, after Jurgen Klopp’s men fell behind to an early Kasey McAteer goal.
The Foxes went into the break with a 1-0 lead, but second half goals from Cody Gakpo, Szoboszlai’s worldie and Diogo Jota turned the game around and booked their place in the fourth round, where they’ll play Bournemouth.
