Man Utd boss Ten Hag may face dressing room backlash for Palace loss reaction
Man Utd boss Ten Hag insists he's 'said everything' on Sancho saga
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag risked backlash from his dressing room by not holding back his criticism after Saturday’s disastrous 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace. The Red Devils lost a second successive Premier League game at Old Trafford through Joachim Andersen’s stunning first-half strike.
Ten Hag is under pressure amid the worst start to a Premier League season in United’s history, losing four of their opening seven fixtures.
His situation hasn’t been helped by the ongoing off-field controversy regarding Jadon Sancho, who effectively labelled the Dutchman a liar on social media after his exclusion from last month’s defeat at Arsenal.
But Sancho’s disciplinary storm is reportedly only the public aspect of Ten Hag’s growing issues in the dressing room.
According to the Manchester Evening News, some United players are growing tired of their boss’ constant criticism.
There is allegedly a belief in some corners of the Red Devils dressing room that Ten Hag has favourites in his squad who are immune from a public dressing down.
So the 53-year-old’s frank assessment of Saturday’s loss to Palace may not have gone down well among his out-of-sorts squad.

After full-time at Old Trafford, Ten Hag admitted it was easy to see why United tasted defeat for the fifth time in all competitions this term.
He said: “It’s actually quite simple. We conceded only three chances over the course of the whole game, three from set-plays. Their goal, first of all, the free-kick.
“You have to be more controlled. It’s not necessary to make a foul there. Then the ball is coming into the box, and it’s not good defending. And we made poor decisions in the final third.
“We came so often in good positions, behind or in front of their backline. We had three players there at that moment. We didn’t have an impact to get to their goal and, so whatever, the extra pass, final pass or a shot.
“The quality was just not good enough in that part of the game. In the final part of the game, we didn’t play our best game.”
Ten Hag didn’t stop there, insisting his stars can do better than the form they have produced in the opening couple of months of the campaign.

“I think every occasion is different. Sometimes, it’s like calmness and composure. Other times, it’s be more clinical. Other times, be more direct,” Ten Hag explained.
“The next time, play the extra pass. As I’ve said, it’s about decision-making, the qualities and skillset the players have.
“There were many occasions, I can’t count them, but we are in the position to put the ball where we want to be.
“I think I repeat myself, but we came into the positions and had to make the [correct] decision. Yes, these players can do better. We have more qualities than we showed today.”
