Man Utd line up striker, Chelsea £34m talks, Arsenal deal given green light

Seven Man Utd transfers Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants answers for as trio set for January exits

Manchester United will be under pressure to strengthen their squad in the January transfer window after whimpering to a 3-0 Premier League defeat at the hands of Bournemouth on Saturday. The Red Devils endured a dismal afternoon at Old Trafford as they lost for the seventh time this season in the top-flight.

Erik ten Hag is coming under increasing pressure after failing to get the best out of his players throughout the campaign. But he has been tipped to bring in RB Leipzig striker Lois Openda in the New Year if he remains in charge of the 13-time Premier League champions.

Arsenal saw their title ambitions derail on Saturday evening as they suffered a 1-0 loss to high-flying Aston Villa. The Gunners, who have been linked with Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, would have returned to the top of the table with a victory but ultimately remained in second place after the match.

Meanwhile Chelsea, who travel to Everton on Sunday, are said to be in talks over Palmeiras’ teenage sensation Estevao Willian. And the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham will also be on the lookout for reinforcements during the transfer window.

There are plenty of transfer rumours ahead of the January window. So follow the Express Sport live transfer blog below for all the latest updates throughout the day.

Arsenal deal given green light

Arsenal have been keeping tabs on Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, who has also been linked with a move to Barcelona, according to football.london. And an Arsenal deal has been given the green light as Mundo Deportivo have revealed that Barcelona are now chasing a different type of midfielder.

Zubimendi, 24, has made 16 La Liga appearances and five Champions League appearances this season. And the Spain international has a release clause of £52million.

Chelsea in £34m talks

Chelsea are in talks with Palmeiras as they attempt to sign 16-year-old attacking midfielder Estevao Willian, according to GOAL. Palmeiras are demanding £17million up front for the Brazil under-17s international, with another £17m in bonuses.

Arsenal, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have also enquired about the player. And the ace would be able to move abroad in 2025 when he turns 18.

Man Utd line up striker

Manchester United are lining up RB Leipzig striker Lois Openda and will look to sign him next summer, according to the Sunday People. Red Devils scouts watched the 23-year-old Belgium international at the Etihad Stadium when his team took on Manchester City in the Champions League and saw him bag two goals as the Citizens ran out 3-2 winners.

Openda has already scored 10 goals in the Bundesliga and four goals in the Champions League this season and is also being chased by Tottenham.
