Man Utd pursue £125m duo as Liverpool find Joel Matip transfer replacement
Premier League clubs are still catching their breath after a gripping weekend of on-field action, but they can’t rest up for long. The congested fixture list between now and the New Year is only just getting started and teams have less than a month before the January transfer window swings open.
Squad depth will be pushed to its limits over the coming weeks, which could encourage emergency signings in the winter. Tottenham, Newcastle United, Chelsea and Manchester United have all been operating without many of their key players, giving their respective managers a decision to make.
Financial Fair Play limitations may also play their part, with Arsenal and the Red Devils among those rumoured to have pushed their spending to the brink during the summer.
With all this to delve into and more, follow Express Sport‘s live transfer updates below…
Liverpool find Matip replacement
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was dealt a crushing blow during Sunday’s win over Fulham, revealing that Joel Matip would be ruled out for the foreseeable with a long-term knee injury.
Luckily for the Reds, they have already scouted out a possible replacement.
According to The Daily Star, £20million-rated Lucas Beraldo is the subject of ‘strong interest’ from Anfield. West Ham, Newcastle and Brentford are also believed to be keen on the Sao Paulo star.
Man Utd pursue £125m duo
Manchester United have placed Jean-Clair Todibo and Antonio Silva on their centre-back hit list, according to Sky Germany.
OGC Nice defender Todibo, who has a reported price tag of £39million, is Erik ten Hag’s top target for the winter.
Benfica star Silva is on the Red Devils’ radar for the summer, but it remains to be seen whether they are able to negotiate a lower fee than his eye-watering £86m release clause.
