NFL legend Tom Brady ‘loved’ working for hated Man Utd owners the Glazers

Tom Brady may be one of the only supposed Manchester United fans who like the Glazers.

Red Devils fans were out in full force during and after their recent 3-1 defeat to Arsenal. Supporters turned up wearing yellow and green scarves, carried banners, or merely chanted anti-Glazer songs at the Emirates and other matches this Premier League season.

While he has invested in Birmingham City, some fans are convinced the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers star loves United. Last year, he posed for pictures with Cristiano Ronaldo after the Portuguese forward scored a hat-trick in United’s 3-2 victory over Tottenham.

If he is a United fan, then the NFL legend may have upset the majority of his fellow Reds.

Brady worked with and played under the Glazers throughout his time at the Buccaneers. The billionaires have owned the Florida franchise since 1995, when Malcolm Glazer paid a then-record $192m to acquire them.

As he was reflecting on his two-year spell at the Bucs, Brady reserved some extra-special praise for the Glazers. “Yeah, and again, those three years I had were so amazing in my football journey,” Brady said on his ‘Let's Go! Podcast’ when asked about the Bucs.

“And I just loved the Glazer family, all the players, Jason Licht, lot of guys I worked with closely and all the coaches, Todd Bowles and Bruce and – Bruce isn't there anymore – but Mike [Evans] and Chris [Godwin], Ryan Jensen's out for the year, but Tristan [Wirfs] there, Cade [Otton]'s at tight end, some of the young running backs, Rachaad [White].

“They got so many great guys and they're just across the state here. I'm down in Miami now, they're in Tampa. It's a 40-minute flight. So I'm hoping to catch some of their games, too, but I'm pulling for those guys. These are my brothers and football brings us all together.”

If he is a United fan, then he would find himself at odds with other supporters. United fans thought the reign of the Glazer family was coming to an end, when the club was put up for sale. There was significant interest from ‘Britain’s richest man’ Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Qatari businessman Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, but no sale was made.

The club is now set to be taken off the market as the billionaire tycoons are reportedly holding out for a potential £10bn takeover.
