Tottenham are reportedly tracking a Bournemouth player as they seek to strengthen their squad in the January transfer window.

Ange Postecoglou’s side started the season in fine form with eight wins from their opening 10 Premier League matches.

But a run of four losses in their last five matches has seen them drop to fifth in the table after suffering a number of injuries and suspensions.

Bournemouth defender Illia Zabarnyi is of interest to Tottenham, who are likely to target a defender next month according to the Mirror.

The north London side are believed to have been keen on the Ukraine international before he sealed a move to the South Coast last January.

Tottenham have continued to track Zabarnyi and he has been ‘prevalent’ on data algorithms they have been utilising.

However, Bournemouth have no interest in selling the 21-year-old, who has shone in the club’s recent resurgence under Andoni Iraola.

Postecoglou’s side have alternative defenders on their shortlist if a move for Zabarnyi fails to materialise.

Atalanta’s Giorgio Scalvini and Benfica’s Morato are both said to be on that shortlist.  Moves for Zabarnyi’s Bournemouth team-mate Lloyd Kelly  and Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo could also be revisited.

Tottenham will look to end a five-match winless run when they host Newcastle on Sunday evening.
