Watford captain nets ‘special’ goal from halfway line – and the keeper is fuming
Watford's captain Wesley Hoedt netted a "special goal" on Saturday afternoon after he found the back of the net from the halfway line.
Hoedt had stepped forwards out of defence to intercept the ball, but when he saw Hull City shot-stopper Ryan Allsop out of position, the Dutchman had a pop. And the ball sailed over the head of Allsop, who was less than impressed.
The fuming shot-stopper raced off the line and punched the air – shouting at his defence for not closing down the defender. Watford fans were quick to hail the strike on social media, while others questioned Allsop's reaction to the long-ranged strike.

"Wesley Hoedt, that is special," one fan gushed. While a second said: "Why is the goalie acting like that's not entirely 100% his fault?"
"Got a lot of time for the keeper not jumping then having a go at the midfield," a third joked. And another added: "You've got to take your hat off to this sort of thing…"

Hoedt's strike helped Watford beat Hull 2-1.
It was an afternoon of world class goals in the Championship, with Ipswich's Wes Burns channeling his inner Ricardo Quarsema to net a trivela against Coventry City.
The Welsh international received the ball on the right wing before feinting and cutting inside, opening his body and striking the ball with outside of his boot. The ball sailed past a hapless Bradley Collins, who could only stand and watch the ball nestle into the top corner.
